At Roxbury Community Trust, our mission is "to promote the development of community spaces that support social, cultural, economic and educational opportunities for our town".
Driving this goal is a model of “community supported enterprises” where a non-profit owns real estate outfitted for a specific purpose. The spaces may then be affordably rented to an operator, whether that is a business, organization or municipality, who otherwise might not be able to afford fit-up costs. This can increase business opportunities for emerging entrepreneurs, creates local employment, and/or provide a needed service to the community.
Founded in 2022, Roxbury Community Trust began as a way to preserve an iconic structure in our historic Village.
We came together and formed Allied Community Development Collective, Inc, a federal 501(c)3 non profit, and are registered to do business as (d/b/a) Roxbury Community Trust.

Built circa 1830, the fomer Catholic Church and (most recently) woodworking shop, has been a fixture to the Roxbury historic Village for nearly 200 years. After being listed for sale and then sitting vacant for several years, some of us grew concerned about the building's fate.
With donated funds from over 20 townspeople, we were able to take out a mortgage on the property and maintain a small cushion to cover minor repairs and continued upkeep. We are currently renting the building to a local woodworker. His business is thriving and several residents of Roxbury and other nearby towns are employed there.
By preserving this historic anchor building in the village center of Roxbury we are increasing economic vitality for our town, supporting a local entrepreneur, maintaining a connection to our town’s history, and helping to build a thriving community.
Your donation will go toward the restoration and renovation of our current project: the former Catholic Church in the Village of Roxbury, Vermont, and its historic preservation. Our first step is to restore the integrity of the timber structure.
